12th to 14th January 2024 - Lagganlia - Hillend Lodge, Feshiebridge
Another fun meet at Lagganlia!
On Friday, Hamish and Martha had a freezing but stunning day on Meall na h-Aisre with a cloud inversion, fog bows and even an eagle sighting. With fair conditions on Saturday and a low avalanche forecast various EMC teams headed into Coire an T-Sneachda for a bit of winter mountaineering with Alex and Keith doing The Slant/ Aladdins Mirror and another team consisting of Rhi ,Duncan, Emma and Anna climbing Alladins Mirror followed by Aladdins Colouir. In the meantime Doug B and Tim D made an ascent ( after a bit of a wait behind another party!) of Crotched Gully.
Tom and Beth chose to head up onto the plateau into rather more challenging conditions for a bit of ski touring ...good effort!
Also on Saturday, the crampons and axes of Shireen, Tim N, Hamish, Sarah, Martha and Chris W got put to use on a round of Sgor Gaoith and some tops. Intermittent views made for a very atmospheric day. In the evening, Anna, Rhi and Martha went for an icy dip at Loch Inch - the mallards weren't impressed that they had to share their little ice-free area.
On Sunday a team consisting of Doug, Sarah,Emma, Alex,Shireen and Tim N headed down to Drumochter to climb Meall na Leitreach in good conditions whilst Tim D,Clare,Chris W,Duncan I, Tom and Beth enjoyed an unexpectedly blue sky day on Meallach Mor above Glen Tromie.
Also on Sunday, whilst snow was falling, Claire H led Rhi, Hamish and Martha on a run around some of her local trails around Kingussie, pointing out swimbling and beaver spotting opportunities. Nice!
All in all , a great meet and thanks to everyone for making it so enjoyable!
