Meet Report

23rd to 25th June 2023 - Inbhirfhaolain hut , Glen Etive

Heading up on Friday with an unpromising forecast (and a few folk unable to make the meet) it felt like possibly becoming a damp squib weather/ midgiewise. A wet start to Saturday saw teams heading to Beinn Fhionnlaidh (Alison C , Fiona M and Mairi) Stob Dubh (brutal ascent) by Tim N and Keith and Ben Starav( even more brutal ascent) by Doug and Anna. As it happened the weather cleared in the middle of the afternoon giving some beautiful views on the way down. A very sociable evening on Saturday round the fire ( which we didn't light ...) , telling various tales , my particular favourite being the story of Gengis the Dog and his role in the Great  Canine Compleation scandal. Brilliant stuff.

Sunday was promising to be fairly stormy from mid morning onwards so with Fiona having to head home early Alison,Tim , Mairi and myself made an early start fort Beinn Maol Chaluim and were rewarded with some glorious views from the summit before the weather changed literally on cue and we beat a hasty retreat back down to the glen.

Kudos to Anna and Doug for opting for an early start and grabbing a scrambling route on The Buachaille Etive Mor (Lagangarbh Buttress) in fine style before we lost the weather.

My first time at that hut and another fun meet as organiser. Thanks folks!
