Meet Report

25th to 27th March 2022 - Alex MacIntyre Memorial Hut, North Ballachulish

It was a glorious weekend for the EMC’s return to the Alex MacIntyre hut – the first visit since September 2019. And as ever, members new and old took part in a range of activities – skiing, climbing, walking and running.

With the Friday weather warm and sunny a lucky few managed to make a 3 day trip of it - Tim D on the Tarmachan Ridge, Martha headed up on the Thursday night and tackled Gleouraich & Spidean Mialach from Loch Quoich, David T climbed Beinn Trilleachan and Clare A got in some skiing action at Glencoe. Martha posted a beautiful picture of the view from the hut on the Friday evening – enough of make those of us not attending a tiny bit regretful!

Saturday saw Tim N and Clare A head for Beinn Sgulaird, Martha return to Loch Quoich with Sgurr a’Mhaoraich her conquest for the day. Allan S, David T, Lydia & Kate had a successful trip up Stob Dubh in Glen Etive – a second attempt for Allan and Kate who were beaten on the previous attempt as a result of deep snow. Tim D, Chris Wo, Doug & Rhi did Beinn a’ Bheithir via School House Ridge and last but not least, Alison C, Mike & Fiona R went climbing at Prince’s Stone near Glenfinnan.

Sunday brought perfect conditions with clear blue skies, a warm sun & very little wind. Hills were climbed in t-shirts! Chris Wo, Tim D, Doug & Clare A did curved Ridge, Buachaille Etive Mor, David T had Meall Lighiche in his sights, Martha & Rhi ran from Ballachulish to Fraochaidh, traversing the hill from east to west, Allan S & Kate returned to Glen Etive for another corbett - Beinn Mhic Chasgaig. Meantime Mike & Fiona R went climbing at Polldubh Crags, Glen Nevis, Alison C headed for Meall Chuaich at Drumochter and Tim N headed for Kinlochleven.

With HUGE thanks to Kate for studiously capturing the details of hills walked and for sorting out my spelling too!
