Meet Report

19th to 22nd April 2019 - BCC Loch Ness Hostel, Near Drumnadrochit (Easter)

Friday

Some lucky people had Friday off and made sure they arrived at the hostel looking healthy and smug (sunburnt).

Emma and Shireen did the western Munro on Aonach Eagach. Didn't fancy the ridge! Mike and Fiona and Keith climbed on Ardverickie Wall and Kubla Khan on Binnean Shuas and rated these multi- pitch climbs very highly. Antti and Pauline did a Cairngorms Corbett, Alan ran Tom and Toll with some Carnethies, Gillian and Kate were on Carn Gorm (a Graham in Glen Cannich), Fiona C, Alison and Alex were Munro re-bagging in Strathfarrar.

Saturday

Fiona M did an Tudor, Mam Sodhail, Sgurr na Lapaich. Fiona C returned to Glen Strathfarrar for a solo walk, Gillian was nearby (something the other said?!).

Pauline, Kate and Shireen did a 7.5 hour Corbett from Loch Monar, Alan H walked in to Strawberry Cottage and went up a Corbett to the south.

The Mullardoch boat was very busy: the Keeper of the List was deposited below Beinn Fionnlaidh and walked through to Glen Affric to be collected by Kenny who'd been out on his bike. 4 folk did the northern Mullardoch hills (Chris Ro, Antti, Alex, Emma Y); Mike and Fiona did the same but included the 2 tops on Lapaich.

Neil, Alan and I and the 2 Carnethies had a big day, biking in to Fannich Lodge and running all 9 of the Munros from west to east. We all ran out of water and had no option but to shrivel up for the last 1/3.

Sunday

A more sedate start for many. A large group set out to do Tom and Toll in Glen Affric.

Gillian, Fiona C and Alan H did Graham Carn a'Chaochain.

Neil and I had a comparatively modest day on the two Great Glen Munros, cycling in from Laggan Locks, and using poles through necessity! We broke the journey home with a fish supper in Pitlochry.

Meanwhile glampers from "over the road" came into the hostel and stole stuff. In carrier bags. Shameless. Words were had and some mugs were meekly returned.

Monday

Edinburgh basked in warm sunshine and some of us had to hold up the economy. Neil and I did bump into Paul in the Gardens at lunchtime though (skivers).

Kate and Gillian were on Beinn a Bathach Ard. Alison and Fiona M found solitude on a deleted Munro summit on Wyvis although Fiona did make friends with lots of dogs. In the spirit of a good post-hill feed Kenny and Alison had scones etc at Inchbae

In Nigel's absence Alison C reckons she did the only pure Marilyn of the weekend.
