Meet Report

22nd to 24th February 2019 - Inverardran Cottage, Crianlarich

With the temperature at 14 degrees and virtually no snow on the hills, it wasn’t your average start to a February meet as we headed for Inverardran Cottage at Crianlarich. The meet got off to an early start on the Friday with Martha & Chris Re climbing Beinn Dorain & Beinn an Dothaidh from Bridge of Orchy and David T climbing Beinn nan Imirean from Glen Dochart on the way to the meet. Alan R arrived on the train from Corrour after running the hills around Loch Ossian and Fiona M bagged the Munro top on Stob Binnein.

On Saturday we headed off in various directions with Chris Re, Martha, Shireen, Chris Wo & Duncan climbing Ben More & Stob Binnein and Fiona M & Susan climbing Meall Glas & Sgiath Chuil from Glen Dochart. David T headed to Glencoe & Buachaille Etive Beag and Alan R, Anne & David B climbed Meall nan Eun in Glen Etive. Claire H ran the two Corbetts in Glen Orchy (Beinn Udlaidh & Beinn Bhreac-liath) and Mike & Fiona R combined a Munro & Graham from Loch Tay (Ben Chonzie & Shee of Ardtalnaig). Allan S, Gillian, Keith & Kate headed round to the Corbett in Glen Lochay (Beinn nan Oighreag). A few were back early enough to head off to the pub to watch the rugby before enjoying a sociable evening back at the hut.

Sunday dawned with a wee bit of frost & low cloud in the glens & first off was Susan heading for Ben More & Stob Binnein. David T headed for The Stob / Meall na Frean (Graham) near Balquhidder and Fiona M headed off to Stob Ghabhar & Stob a Choire Odhair from Victoria Bridge. Shireen, Martha, Chris Re, Chris Wo & Duncan climbed Ben Vorlich and Gillian, Allan & Kate climbed Meall an Fhudair from Inverarnan. Mike & Fiona R headed for the group of Munros around An Caisteal, with Claire H & Alan R enjoying a run over the same group of hills. Those on the Munro tops were lucky enough to enjoy a cloud inversion and on the Corbett the cloud did eventually clear with perfect timing as we arrived at the summit.

Thanks to everyone for their good company over the weekend and another enjoyable meet.
