Meet Report

10th to 12th March 2017 - Glenfeshie Hostel, Glenfeshie

Even if it was still winter, it was mild weather and very poor snow cover. So, on Saturday morning no early start, nobody went winter climbing. Surprinsingly, Gillian and Steve headed up to Cairngorm Mountains for skiing (It was the only occasion for them to go skiing in 2017, that is the main reason). Emma and Katrina set off for quite a long day on the Monadhliath Munros. Fiona M joined Alison C for a short day on Mullach Clach a Blair. Chris A went Corbett bagging on his own and did Meall na h-Aisre followed by a short drive up the glen to climb Gairbeinn and Corrieyairick Hill. Peter and Fraser (two Potentiel New Member) decided to go to Sgor Gaoith. Brian and Tony did a short walk near the hostel. Finally two groups made of Kenny/Alan/Anne/Chris R and Marcus/Sylvian ascended Ben Macdui, via the goat track where they check snow conditions in the corrie to be sure that nothing was in.

On Sunday weather was quite similar : mild, high altitude clouds and a few bit of blue skies if you were lucky. Gillian had a great day on Saturday therefore she decided to go skiing again. Alan did a crazy run from the hostel to Sgor Gaoith  and then to Aviemore.PNM were inspired by the walk done on Saturday so Fraser and Peter climbed two of the three Monadhliath Munros (Carn Sgullain and A'Chailleach) and Chris R went to Mullach Clach a Blair. Katrina and Chris A climbed Carn na Saobhaidhe from Strathdearn. Brian and Tony headed to Creag Dhubh and this time they went to the summit. Finally, Marcus, Steve and Sylvian were desperate to climb and set off to Newtyle Quarry for drytooling. Steve let out some yelling while climbing Roofiliscious M5, he almost onsighted it... good effort.

Thanks to everyone for your company and another great meet!
