Meet Report
12th to 15th September 2008 - Mol Mor, Torridon (September holiday)
We arrived at the spacious
and beautifully situated Mol Mor basecamp in good weather. As the midges
were also out enjoying the lovely evening light it was decided the scenery
was best viewed from indoors. Saturday saw parties heading for the Munro
of Maol Chean Dearg and the Corbett Beinn Dearg where a particularly
well drilled party of walkers was found near the summit. Their leader
was of the opinion that some elements of the EMC were "rather well
spread out". This tightly packed bunch was left behind as the badly
drilled EMC party headed off down in the direction of, but not up, Beinn
Alligin. Alison and David ascended Beinnn Dearg in the alternative west
to east direction, nipping up Beinn Alligin en route on the basis that
it was "only a short detour" and "rude to leave it out really".
The EMC climbers meanwhile were whizzing up a route on the Beinn Eighe
buttress a few short miles away.
Sunday saw a large party heading
for Liathach - the complete traverse to the Beinn Alligin car park
thanks to some complicated sounding early morning car rearranging from
Alan and Ian. Others headed for various Munros and Corbetts to the south
of the glen. The weather happily stayed fine and splendid views were
enjoyed by all with the day finishing with a meal at the Beinn Damph
Hotel.
Monday's weather was more what
one might call mixed, with targets successfully reached including Bac
an Eich with it's large tic population, Beinn Damph and the tea shop
in Aviemore.
