14th to 16th June 2024 – Alex MacIntyre Memorial Hut, N. Ballachulish

Another great meet!

Not such a big attendance at this one with only 8 of us at the hut but it was nice to catch up with everyone and very sociable ,with plenty of room to sit and chat after dinner .

With a not so promising forecast it seemed possible that there may be a washout on the cards….not so!!

Saturday proved to be an absolutely cracking day with the weather holding till early evening , enabling Mark and Anna to grab a couple of Munros on the Ballachulish horseshoe before descending to some well deserved Alcopops in the village.

Meanwhile Tim, Alan and Kate headed to Glencoe with Tim and Kate walking up Beinn Trilleachan to enjoy superb views of all the main mountains, lochs and glens around. Allan S went just to the subsidiary summit this time. Early in the morning the drive down Glen Etive was lovely but on the way out in the afternoon(rush hour!) Tim N drove a gauntlet of campervans and smart cars, who do not understand single track roads. Tim stopped partway up in a car park to jump start a car with a flat battery. Good man!

Mike ,Fiona and myself headed over to Ardnamurchan for a bit of cragging. A very scenic drive and a truly fantastic venue for climbing. Simply stunning! On the return a pre ferry pint at the Brewery in Corran ( plus a carry out…nice!) One of the best climbing days I’ve had for a long time and a big thanks to Mike for driving!

The weather broke in the evening and Sunday dawned wet and overcast . Fiona and Mike opted for the Fort William climbing wall with Alan and Kate goiing for a low level walk near Glencoe village before retiring for tea and scones.

Tim, Anna and Mark headed off in the drizzle and mist to bag a couple of Corbetts in the grey corries. I went for a cuppa!

Thanks to all for another great EMC meet.
