Meet Report

17th to 19th January 2014 - Hillend Lodge Lagganlia Centre, Feshiebridge

A popular meet this, maybe everyone was making use of the facilities us Edinburgh residents council tax subsidise! We ended up in both Hillend lodge and the smaller Ptarmigan lodge.

Saturday had fallen into the usual cycle of iffy weather getting iffier later in the day.

Fiona, Mike, Kenny & Alison met up with Fiona M to climb something from the cairngorm ski centre carpark. We were battered by strong winds and horizonal drizzle but Fiona Ms enthusiasm got us moving. 20 minutes latyer Fiona & Mike's enthusiasm had waned and walked back out(A drier but less adventurous ascent of Meall a' Buachaille instead). The others had a mildly epic day on The Prodigal Principal despite Alisons offer to turn back twice!

Meanwhile Ian, Antti, Martin, Paul, Keith, Katrina & Sharon had a stormy day on Sgurr Gaioth. Pauline & Dave visited its companion munro Mullach Clach a Bhlair.

Tim who was with some visiting friends had an exciting day on the Fiacaill Ridge.

Everyone else(Alan, Fiona C, Kate, Pete & Sara) also ended up on Meall a' Buachaille in less stormy conditions.

The strangley small kitchen in Hillend lodge failed to spoil a good social evening. Some tricky scheduling was required to ensure you got fed!

On Sunday the weather was miserable but Paul and Antti managed an ascent of Geal Charn whilst the rest of us visited coffee shops or did low level walks.

Next time at Lagganlia - take your own pillow!
