Meet Report

12th to 14th October 2012 - Lagangarbh SMC Hut, Glencoe

With a fairly dismal forecast for the weekend, Friday evening resulted in some sore heads on Saturday morning and late starts were the order of the day.  Those with enough incentive to still go up a hill opted for the wee Buachaille apart from Nigel who had a graham to do and was joined by Anne C.  Mike, Fiona and Alison had a full on session at the indoor climbing wall at the Ice Factor.   Not bringing  a rope for lead climbing saved us from being embarrassed by any comparison to the junior climbing teams who were practicing alongside us.

On Saturday evening we were treated to a unique musical rendition of various minor classics through a selection of wine and beer bottles  being blown into with varying amounts of liquid in each bottle to create the required pitch.   Luckily there was a large selection of said bottles so no crucial notes were missing.   A new act in the making for Britain’s Got Talent?

The weather on Sunday turned out to be a lot better than the forecast.  The options were therefore logically the hills either side of the hut apart from Nigel who had Grahams to do and Mike and Fiona who had a new corbett on the agenda.  Those with more energy opted for the big Buachaille where Martin, Kenny and Tim encountered some slightly greasy grade 1/2 scrambling to the summit and Claire, Clare, Carla, Ian Rebecca and Ali went for the full traverse joined by Martin and Tim after the scramble.   Despite the fact that the temperature was distinctly autumnal and chilly, the al fresco swimming section of the club enjoyed their last(?) session of the year on the walk out.  The rest of us had a leisurely stroll up Beinn a Chrulaiste.
